Announcement - Beginning Farmer and Rancher Workshops!  A new 3-year grant will be offering a series of workshops throughout Arizona.  Year one will focus on ranch basics such as assessing soil, water, rangeland and precipitation conditions, heifer development, developing business plans, basics of rotational grazing, and financing options. The second and third year will build on the first year and interests of participants. All years include both classroom style learning and field days/tours of operations.  Dates for the workshops this year are:  May 3, Friday:  Stockton Pass (field site) off 266, Mt Graham/Safford; education focused on Soil and Water fundamentals; August 9, Friday:  Location TBD. Education focused on business planning (senior rancher panel), land acquisition, and a first-hand look at some range monitoring sites; Sept. 20, Friday:   Location TBD.
