Organizations Involved with Grazing on Public Lands

  • American Grassfed Association: A  variety of research shows that products from animals fed grass diets, rather than grain based diets, are healthier. This organization was established to promote grassfed livestock, establish legal criteria for use of the term, and communicate its value to industry and consumers.   • Bureau of Land Management : Seeks to... "sustain the health, diversity and productivity of the nations public lands for the use and enjoyment and of present and future generations." It is involved in the national Clean Water Action Plan.
     
  • National Public Lands Grazing Campaign: A multi-year, multi-organization strategy to end abusive livestock grazing on the nation's public lands.
     
  • Oregon Natural Desert Association: Work to protect High Desert lands and water from irresponsible livestock grazing, mining, and geothermal development.
     
  • Saguaro-Juniper Corporation: A group of some sixty share-holding "associates" holding over private deeded land, a state grazing lease, private leases, and collaborate with other groups. The associates would more likely characterize themselves as stewards or even servants of the land than owners.
     
  • USDA Forest Service: An agency of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, it manages public lands in national forests and grasslands.
